Recover Hidden Data from External Hard Disk

November 1 2012 , Written by Mark Art Published on #recover data from external hard disk

I have stored many movies, files or folders on my external hard disk. But, several minutes ago, I cannot see some folders inside of this drive. And much weirdly, I can also find them by using search bar. So, what’s wrong with my drive?

Hi! There!

According to your description, you must accidentally change your files into hidden mode. So, you should show them again in two ways:

1. The first way:

Start =>Run => Enter “CMD” => We assume your external drive as G, and type in this command “attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*” => Press “enter” on your keyboard. => Check your drive whether they all have been shown again.

Tips:

1. You should type in the right name of your external drive instead of “g”.

2. You should directly copy the command to the coming black interface in case of any error.

2. The second way:

Start=> Run=>Enter “control folders” in the blank and click “Ok”=>Choose “View” on the appearing “Folder Options” interface=> Select “show hidden files and folders”.

Tips:

1. You must type in “control folders”, not “control folder”.

2. You should select “show hidden files and folders” until the front circle is marked.

All of these two methods can settle your problem.

Good luck!
