4 Signs May Indicate Failing Drive

December 12 2012 , Written by Mark Art Published on #Computer frequently freezes or gets blue screen, #Computer operating speed slows down gradually.

In modern age, we could freely store our precious files like our documents, images, videos, music, and other files on our drive. However, as we enjoying the convenience of various drives, we also should realize that every drive has its limited lifespan like our human beings.

Actually, the failing of drive always causes data loss, which could be a nightmare to its owners.

Therefore, today, I would like to introduce you four signs to predict a failing drive and make a good preparation.

But before starting my topic, I have to clarify that these signs merely “may” indicate the failing drive, not “absolutely”.

1. Computer operating speed slows down gradually.

As your drive is damaged seriously, it cannot freely and smoothly operate any computer program or system program. Therefore, the operating speed will be affected gradually.

1. Computer frequently freezes or gets blue screen.

The freezing problem or blue screen also can be caused by the damaged drive problem.

3. Drive is often killing your files. (Many corrupted files)

Sometimes, you surely get a corrupted file as you fail to open it, though there is no any error warning or sign. If the number of corrupted files is increasing day by day, that could be the problem of the drive.

4. Many bad sectors are detected on the drive.

As all of these signs mentioned above are showing on your drive from time to time. You should start the Windows Error-checking tool to fix for you. Here are ways for you to find the Windows Error-checking tool:

Randomly right click a partition in “My Computer” to select “Properties”=> Open “Tools” tab and hit “Check Now”

Unfortunately, if this tool cannot fix your problem, your drive must have too many bad sectors or be irrecoverably damaged.

These are the four signs for you to recognize the possible failing drive.

If these signs happen on your computer, you should keep calm, back up your important data well and ask an expert or specific drive company to for help.
